Casinos have been around for a long time. In the year 1494, the first casino was built in Venice. It was owned by a man named Giacomo Casanova. It is said that he would cheat people out of their money, but still make a profit from it because he owned the casino. Casinos were not always seen as negative things or a form of entertainment, but more or less a way to cheat people out of their money and get rich off of them quickly.
The history of casinos goes back much further than just Italy in the 1400s though. There have been casinos going back to Ancient Greece and China. In Greece, there was a form of gambling called koummydia which involved dice and eventually other games such as cards came into play too.
